  • ELA (English Language Arts) - Benchmark Advance is our new adopted curriculum.  Using this program along with other sources, students will improve their reading and writing abilities.
  • MATHEMATICS -“Go Math!” published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt is our adopted math curriculum. Various books, workbooks, games, and other resources (including Math IXL and Reflex Math) are used to support our Harcourt Mathematics curriculum.  
  • SCIENCE - Students will study life science, earth, and physical science, as well as engaging in the Next Generation Science Standards with experiences and supplies generously donated by our families. Our school is using STEMscopes this school year. This is a hands on, NGSS aligned science curriculum generously funded by a FUND-A-NEED program!
  • SOCIAL STUDIES - This year, students will learn about the history of California. Topics range from early Native Americans, missions system, the Gold Rush, and to how the current government system operates. The social studies curriculum is published by Scott Foresman.
  • P.E., V.A.P.A, and Technology - All students will participate in P.E. twice weekly with Mrs. Nichols. We have P.E. only Tuesdays and Thursdays.  In addition to weekly music classes with Mrs. Reimer. 4th grade students may participate in an optional pull-out band program with our new music teacher, Mrs. Olson. Students will also be visited on a monthly basis by the district Tech TOSA team member, Mr. Smith. Finally, students will attend weekly computer lab sessions with Mrs. Underwood where they practice keyboarding skills, general technology concepts, and continued math and language skills practice. 

School Expectations

  • ALL 3-5th grade students are expected to wear a mask each day to school and wear it approriately throughout the day, unless a medical excuse is given to the office.
  • Each student should bring a filled water bottle each day.
  • Students are responsible for writing down their homework assignments, project due dates, and upcoming commitments in their planner.  This planner stays with their binder along with any/all necessary work. They must make sure to bring their planner in their binder each day.
  • Large projects will be completed at home. There will be some research time given in class. These assignments will always begin with an outline and overview of expectations.

Letter Grades:

Please check Jupiter Grades on a regular basis to be sure all grades are accurate.

  • A = 90%-100%
  • B = 80%-89%
  • C = 70%-79%
  • D = 60%-69%
  • F = 0%-59%

** To earn Honor Roll, students must have a 3.5 GPA or higher (at least 3 As and 2 Bs).  To earn Principal’s Honor Roll, students must have a 4.0 (all As).

Late Work / No Name:

1st Trimester - Loss of 10% on assignment

2nd Trimester - Loss of 25% on assignment

3rd Trimester - Loss of 50% on assignment

 

 

 

 

 

Absences:

For assignments given while a student is absent, he/she has one day for each day absent to complete and turn in the work.  Weekly assignments and projects that have been outlined ahead of time are due on the original due date.   

PE Schedule

Tuesdays will be our class PE Day. Each group (AM/PM) will have PE with Mrs. Nichols for an hour once each week. Students should wear appropriate shoes and clothing on these days. Water bottles are required at school- but students must bring them to PE with them.
